M.E.B.A has what you're looking for

As the time comes for you to make your decision and vote, we ask that you cast your ballot for M.E.B.A.

Ask yourself the following:

- Why am I looking for or considering representation?

- Is it for a future retirement?

- Is it to have other sailing options?

- Is it simply to have representation to improve wages and working conditions and provide some protection from an employer ’ s whims?

As M.E.B.A. works towards upgrading and making improvements to our Plans, we have been able to both save money and increase benefits for our members, something MMP has not been positioned to accomplish.

I can factually state that if you are looking to set yourself up for retirement, the best option is M.E.B.A. Our pension is unmatched in the industry and is solidly funded well into the future.

Are you looking for other sailing options? M.E.B.A. has that as well. Being able to choose between a Cruise Ship, PCTC’ s, Con/Ro’ s, T ankers, Bulkers, MARAD vessels, and Container Ships, M.E.B.A. is not short of deck officer positions. If OSG deck officers were to vote to be a part of the M.E.B.A., then M.E.B.A. would have nearly as many deep-sea deck officer opportunities as MMP.

If you seek better wages, working conditions, and a voice at the table, there is only one choice: M.E.B.A.

Without question, M.E.B.A. negotiates better contracts than MMP . In 2022, we both went into negotiations simultaneously for the same employer , and despite MMP’ s tactics, after the dust settled, the M.E.B.A. engineers were paid higher wages. Finally , if it is a matter of who provides the strongest representation, the answer is M.E.B.A. If there is any question about that, consider how M.E.B.A. and MMP responded when an employer in NY scabbed out both unions: M.E.B.A. filed charges while MMP took no remedial action and instead, they planned to “sit tight.” Rather than fighting back, MMP then proceeded to take the bizarre step of inviting the employer managers that arranged the scab action to speak to its members alongside their union officials. The combined leverage of deck and engine will help ensure the best contract with the strongest work rules for all Officers at OSG.
